August 15, 2024, marks the second National Ecological Day, the theme of which is "Accelerating the Comprehensive Green Transformation of Economic and Social Development." Promoting green and low-carbon economic and social development is a critical link in achieving high-quality development, a fundamental strategy for addressing China's resource, environmental, and ecological issues, and an inherent requirement for humans and nature coexist in harmony. The "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Accelerating the Comprehensive Green Transformation of Economic and Social Development" call for the complete, accurate, and comprehensive implementation of the new development concept, accelerating the formation of a new development paradigm, improving green and low-carbon development mechanisms, accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, comprehensively promoting the construction of a beautiful China, and accelerating the modernization of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

Unraveling the Secrets of Green Transformation: Carbon's Journey

 

Satellite Chemical spearheads the shift to light olefin feedstocks like ethane & propane, curbing carbon emissions. Ethane cracking emits just 1/10th the CO2 of coal-to-olefin for each ton of ethylene. It also harnesses these feedstocks' hydrogen to develop a low-carbon hydrogen industry, emitting 5% & 2.6% of NG-to-H2 & coal-to-H2 processes' emissions, respectively. Targeting 400,000 tons/year of hydrogen, Satellite aims to be East China's top "green hydrogen" supplier. It leads in integrating hydrogen's full value chain, pioneering demo projects like hydrogen buses & storage in its parks, fueling green & low-carbon transformation.

 

Achieving Effective Carbon Reduction through Resource Circulation

Satellite Chemical drives resource circulation for effective carbon reduction, pioneering a "zero-carbon" new energy-materials chain. With CCUS (what is this stand for?), we capture & recycle CO2 into carbonate esters for batteries, nearing 100% conversion. Fully operational, our plants will recycle about 400,000 tons CO2/year, equivalent to 40,000 hectares of forest. Leveraging hydrogen, we're developing chemicals with HPPO, reducing carbon by up to 3.7million tons/year, and it's the only green export-approved process.

 

Streamlining Energy Efficiency and Consumption Reduction

Satellite Chemical's Lianyungang Petrochemical topped the 2023 Energy Efficiency Leaders list in ethylene and ethylene glycol, with unit energy consumption approximately 60% of the national benchmark. This achievement stems from ethane cracking's efficiency and Satellite Chemical's relentless pursuit of energy savings, carbon reduction, pollution mitigation, and efficiency gains. With robust energy management and continuous process optimization, ethylene production unit energy consumption decreased by 10% in 2022 compared to 2021, widening the lead over benchmarks.
